Embarrassed Etymology

Today someone told me they were embarrassed by their childhood photos. I, in my infinite wisdom and empathy, told them that was silly because kids are awkward and nobody in their right mind judges a person by a photo of them as a kid. They didn't respond.

This also got me thinking about the word itself: "Embarrassed"

Now I'm no etymologist, but I'm willing to guess the root of this word is something along the lines of "I'm Bare Assed". Which is obviously a vulnerable position most people try to avoid in public settings.

I don't want to be corrected and I don't really have deeper thoughts than that, but I thought it was funny.
